Lady Impress Bio



Sakeenah, known professionally as Lady Impress, was born in Columbia, South Carolina, on October 30, 1982. Raised in a musical family, she was immersed in a wide range of genres from an early age. By age 10, she had already logged studio time, performed live, and played multiple instruments. Her passion for reggae and Caribbean culture grew alongside admiration for artists such as Bob Marley, Burning Spear, Israel Vibrations, and Lady Saw, shaping her into a powerful headline vocalist.

In 2006, Lady Impress relocated to Atlanta, Georgia to advance her music career, deepen her songwriting, and broaden her production skills across genres. She remained steadfast in pursuing a solo reggae path, using the next eight years to build her presence by opening for renowned acts like Sizzla, Morgan Heritage, Capleton, Midnight Reggae Band, Elephant Man, and Wayne Wonder, among others.

In 2014 Lady Impress began to tour the United States and the Caribbean, promoting her music and her debut single, “Private Dancer” .In 2016 Lady Impress begin to get exposure on Jamaica’s major television networks, TVJ and Hype TV, where her distinctive style and dynamic voice captivated audiences worldwide.
Lady Impress released the single “Trendsetter” and album “Country Gyal Vibez” which featured catchy lyrics and soulful melodies.These projects increased her exposure and increased visibility.

In 2020, amid the pain of losing her daughter Jahqueen, Lady Impress channeled her grief into art, releasing the heartfelt single “My Queen” as a tribute to her daughter and a testament to resilience.

Lady Impress embraces spirituality as a path to self-healing, continuing to use music as a therapeutic outlet throughout her journey. She released the album Crossroads at a pivotal moment in her life, with songs that function as prayers to the Orisa and as ancestral-veneration melodies—elements central to her African Spirituality faith. As a Chief in an African Kingdom in South Carolina and an Olorisa within her faith community, she demonstrates a deep commitment to spiritual leadership and traditional practices. After the Crossroads release, she took a five-year self-healing break to tend to personal growth and recovery. In May 2026, Lady Impress is set to release the single DNA, with additional releases planned thereafter as part of an ongoing slate of new music.
